"Manatee" Wall Sculpture Extremely large hand carved wall sculpture of a Florida Manatee. Presented in flat back wall sculpture format this replica is carved from natural Red Wood with 5 coats of natural rubbed shellac finish. Known as a sea cow this gentle and slow moving giant is about 10 feet long and weighs about 1000 pounds. They will surface to breathe every three to four minutes. They are herbivores, vegetarians, which spend most of their time feeding. They are non-territorial and non-aggressive. A Normal 24-hour day consists of six to eight hours feeding, two twelve hours sleeping, and the remainder of the time traveling. They are very inquisitive and spend much time investigating objects. Manatees are best described as semi-social. The usual social unit is the mother and her calf. This long-term bond between mother and calf usually last about two years.
